Giving the Finger

The standoff between buyers and sellers continues, with an estimated minimum spread of 10%+ between their expectations.  Buyers expect prices to deteriorate significantly, while sellers believe we’ve already hit the bottom.  Although the winter freeze has thawed, deal pricing is giving some of us whiplash. 

Speaking at Wharton a few weeks back yielded many conversations with alums looking to implement a 50%-off-asking-price strategy towards finding a deal.  Seller pushback has already begun:  one was so insulted by an offer that she sent an email with an attached picture of herself giving the finger … what’s next?
